Laptop fixes
MacBook Pro M5 · Casa Keys + MX Master 4 · ticks save automatically
If you only do five things, do these. Biggest bang for least effort.
Rule of thumb: if it's intermittent, it's the tech (Bluetooth, battery, dropped keymap, or memory pressure). Your hands are consistent; flaky wireless isn't.
Click turns into drag / highlights everything
NOT YOU, BLUETOOTHDropped button-release event; the Mac thinks you're still holding the button.
Unstick now: one firm click on empty desktop space.
Decisive test: use the MX Master wired (USB-C) for a day. Stops, it's Bluetooth. Continues, it's a faulty left switch, so warranty it (it's near-new).
Shortcuts randomly stopped working
NOT YOU, DROPPED KEYMAPThe per-keyboard modifier swap half-drops after reconnects.
Test: try the same shortcut with the other modifier key. One works, one doesn't, so the keymap dropped.
Fix: Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts, Modifier Keys, pick the keyboard, re-set Control to Command and Caps Lock to Control.
Missing letters / stuttery mouse
NOT YOU, BATTERYTest: charge both for 30 min. Behaviour changes, it's battery.
Fix: Logi Options+ shows battery % and ships firmware fixes for BLE dropouts.
Everything sluggish / frozen
NOT YOU, MEMORY PRESSURETest: Activity Monitor, Memory, pressure graph yellow or red.
Fix: quit a sync client, close unused Chrome windows. (Hardware is fine, confirmed via diagnostics.)
Keep missing what I'm aiming at
FIXABLE IN SETTINGSAccessibility, Display, Pointer: bigger cursor + coloured outline. Wiggle the mouse to balloon it (shake to locate).
Drop tracking speed one notch. Slower means more accurate, which means less correcting and less hand work.
Double-clicks don't register
FIXABLE IN SETTINGSAccessibility, Pointer Control: slow the double-click speed a notch (more time between clicks). Turn Spring-loading off while you're there.
Claude app: stuck overlay / huge image filling the window
NOT YOU, UI GLITCHFix: ⌘R reloads the window (nothing is lost). Messages sent while Claude is working are queued, not ignored. Start fresh chats per task; long chats get heavy and glitchy.
